Camping At Its Best

After dinner we walked to the beach to hopefully catch a sunset and some good wind to fly our kite.
Big brother advice or maybe just a kiss!
Ahh, the sand in our feet...
 And it's up!
On the way home we found a froggy friend.
 Well, hello there little frog.
We held onto him for a little while and then we let him go home.
Looking out for deer close to our campsite.
 He was this close!
Finishing off a great day around the fire. Doesn't get any better.

Smiling Moments

 Couldn't squeeze her tight enough.
 Yeah!

 My loves.
...and she is spent.
Grateful for this trip, this time and the realization that I have all that I need.

Sand Dollar Beach

A short drive on the island takes us to Sand Dollar Beach.
Silly us. Happy to be together.
Olivia notices the flowers in the brush.  If there is a flower in the midst of it all, she will find it and want to get a closer look. My naturalist.
We explored, swam, hiked and soaked in the sun.  Camping rules.

Exploring Hermit Island on Day 2

Olivia wakes up and discovers a friend quite close to our campsite. She quietly watches the deer and then grabbed her binoculars (noclers as she calls them) for a closer look.
 Oatmeal buddies.

Andrew's keeping a journal of our explorations and adventures camping.
 We spotted a turtle!
 Caught him!

 ...and let him go...
Off to Spring beach with our nets!

Training for his Peaks to Portland swim.
 Discoveries!
 We found a cohog!
 Olivia's turn.

 Beach pals for life.
 My kind of learning.
Olivia was busy in the sand for hours. Our outside girl was perfectly content.

Hermit Island Campground - Day 1!

And we have arrived at our little hidden treasure in Maine where we love to camp every summer.
We quickly set up our tent and ran down to the beach. Olivia found someone else's handiwork to play under.
Play time with dad in the water. Smiles all around.
 Happiness.
 Warming up a little chill.
 Campsite ready for memories.
S'mores to finish off the day.
A new delicacy - replace one of the graham crackers with a toll house cookie. Perfection.
Our little campers will sleep well tonight.
